Edward A. Cunningham, IV
Edward Cunningham is Director of the Ash Center China Programs at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and has trained over 1,200 senior Chinese government officials since 1999. He also directs the school’s Asia Energy and Sustainability Initiative and focuses on energy markets and governance, international economics and competitiveness, and China’s integration into the world economy. He first lived in China in 1992 and serves as an advisor to private and publicly listed companies as well as venture and private equity funds, specializing largely in energy and environmental technologies, infrastructure assets, and technology-enabled services.
He has worked in Beijing, studied at Peking University and Tsinghua University, and was selected as a Fulbright Fellow to China. He is fluent in Mandarin and Italian, and his work has appeared in media such as The New York Times, The Financial Times, The New Yorker, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, and Bloomberg. He graduated from Georgetown University, received an A.M. from Harvard University, and holds a Ph.D. from M.I.T.
