Thomas Putter was CEO of Allianz Capital Partners and Managing Director of Allianz Alternative Assets Holding GmbH, co-responsible for Allianz Group’s Alternative Asset Investment program until 2009 and was Chairman of Allianz Capital Partners Group until July 2010 having started his career with Allianz in 1998.
Prior to joining Allianz, he was Executive Director, Goldman Sachs International, London and prior to that Chief Financial Officer of the Matuschka Group. Thomas also held positions in Investment Banking with Swiss Bank Corporation International and Deutsche Bank Capital Markets Ltd. He started his career in international commercial banking with Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago in 1980.
Since 2005, Thomas is a member of the Commission on Growth and Innovation of the German CDU’s Economic Council. In 2006 Thomas participated as an observer in the EU Commission’s Alternative Investment Funds Expert Group culminating in its report published in July 2006. Between 2001 and 2007 he served first as a member of the board and then as Chairman of the German Private Equity and Venture Capital Association e.V. (BVK) and is today on the advisory board of the association. Between 2007 and 2009 Thomas was a member of the Advisory Board for Environmental Technology of the German Ministry of the Environment.
Thomas holds board and advisory positions with a number of companies, both private and public, including Envision Energy of China.
Thomas studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at The Queen’s College, Oxford.
