Heather Smith, Partner

Heather Smith is the Head of Private Placements for Greentech Capital Advisors. She has over 16 years of experience in the debt and equity private placement industry and has raised over $11 billion of growth capital in private placements, including significant transactions for renewable energy and bio-fuels companies in the US, Europe, South America, and Asia.

Heather leverages her vast private placement experience to provide alternative energy and Sustainable Infrastructure clients with thoughtful, analytical advice throughout the capital raising process. Utilizing her long-standing relationships with institutional investors (private equity firms, family offices, global investment funds, insurance companies, LBO funds, and pension funds), she customizes a distribution strategy for each client, analyzing which strategic and financial investors would be most appropriate and then executes a highly efficient, successful process. She has been instrumental in raising capital for growth, acquisition financings, corporate spin-outs, and restructurings.

Prior to joining Greentech Capital Advisors, Heather founded the Structured Private Placements Group at Deutsche Bank. During her tenure, she originated, structured, syndicated, and placed equity, mezzanine, and senior debt capital for domestic and international private companies. She worked with clients to customize financing structures to minimize dilution while providing maximum capital structure flexibility.

Prior to Deutsche Bank, Heather was a Director in the Private Placement Group at Credit Suisse, where she was fundamental in raising equity and/ or mezzanine for over 100 clients. Furthermore, she was the primary liaison to the Energy Group, with which she coordinated to identify business opportunities and secure new business.

Heather received her MBA in Finance, International Studies and Marketing with distinction from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and her BA, cum laude, in Economics, from Harvard University.
