Damien Sauer, Partner

Damien Sauer, based in Zürich, covers the European market, advising leading companies on M&A and capital raising assignments. He brings to our clients over 10 years of transaction experience driven by value creation. In the last few years, Damien completed more than 20 deals in the nuclear, transmission and distribution, and renewable sectors for a total value exceeding $8 billion. Drawing upon his true understanding of corporate internal dynamics, he focuses on anticipating his clients’ needs.

Damien joined Greentech Capital Advisors from AREVA, where he was Head of M&A. He was instrumental in expanding AREVA’s product portfolio and geographical footprint by executing acquisitions and joint ventures with European, US, Asian, and South American partners. He conducted several transactions for AREVA Renewables, including the acquisition of Ausra (solar thermal) and PN Rotor (wind blade manufacturer). Damien also divested the group’s Transmission and Distribution division to a consortium formed by Alstom-Schneider for $5.2 billion and led execution on a $1.3 billion equity capital raise, interacting with nuclear companies and financial investors.

Before being promoted to Head of M&A, Damien was Senior M&A Manager at AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution division, in charge of implementing top management’s external growth program and divesting non core activities. He also supported business units in the preparation of integration and carve-out plans.

Prior to AREVA, Damien co-founded the M&A department of MGT, a French leading boutique advisory firm focused on high growth companies, where he sourced and executed a variety of strategic M&A transactions for private equity firms.

Damien began his career at Deloitte & Touche, where he carried out financial audit assignments for large French corporations. He then joined the business valuation practice within the Corporate Finance Division.

Damien holds an MBA from the London Business School and a Master’s Degree in Finance and Accounting as well as a Bachelor in Mathematics from the University of Paris Dauphine.
